This is undoubtedly one of the most comprehensive and rewarding projects I've worked on, as the company entrusted us with everything from creating the name to taking photographs of the project in operation. We supported Kirmaná throughout the entire communications process until early 2020, and we are pleased to have built, with the help of the Seiren Digital team, a successful communications strategy that aligns with the concept this glamping site wanted to convey.

The Name

When the Spanish arrived, they used the name Quimbaya to generically designate indigenous cultures with diverse characteristics but who occupied areas of what is now known in Colombia as the Coffee Axis, in the departments of Caldas (south: Chinchiná, Palestina, Villamaría, Manizales), Risaralda (south: Pereira, Marsella, Santa Rosa) and Quindío (north: Armenia, Quimbaya, Montenegro, La Tebaida, Salento, Circasia) in the municipalities of Cartago and Obando, north of the Valle del Cauca.

The term Quimbaya has been used by archaeologists to designate cultures that were extinct even upon the arrival of the Spanish and were possibly displaced by peoples who arrived later. 1

Kimaná / Kirmaná: In the Quimbaya language, she is the great mother, the principal goddess. According to beliefs, Kimaná sends Tutumak (wind) and Kuyarek (earth) and they give life to underground and aerial animals. 2
